Join author Andy Douglas as he presents his memoir, The Curve of the World: Into the Spiritual Heart of Yoga at Dragonfly Books on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 pm.
In The Curve of the World Andy documents his lifelong study of yoga and meditation through thirty years, several countries, and spiritual teachers. Born in Brazil to missionary parents, Douglas’ travel and spiritual practice have shaped his life ever since. The Curve of the World tells the story of the author's relationship with a remarkable spiritual teacher while drawing connections between spirituality and social justice, music and devotion. As the author eventually faces serious illness, he explores the link between body, mind, and spirit.
Andy Douglas has practiced yoga and meditation for thirty years, and lived for seven years in various countries of Asia, four of those as a monk. After returning to the U. S. in 1990, he worked as a journalist and public radio announcer, before receiving a bachelors’ degree in Anthropology from the University of Iowa. In 2005, he received an MFA in Creative Writing and was the recipient of the Marcus Bach Fellowship for Writing about Religion and Culture.
