Join the Iowa Center for the Book at the 2020 National Book Festival September 25-27, 2020! This year, the event has transitioned to take place completely online but remains free to the public.
The twentieth-anniversary event will feature more than 120 authors, poets, and illustrators on nine different virtual stages. Three “Timely Topic Threads” including Democracy in the 21st Century, Fearless Women, and Hearing Black Voices, will allow attendees to dive deeper into the themes for greater understanding. All author sessions will be recorded and available for on-demand viewing, and the Book Festival’s virtual platform will remain available for two months after the event as well.
The Iowa Center for the Book will be a virtual exhibitor in the “Discover State Reads: Roadmap to Reading” section of the event. This fun and educational activity, designed especially for young people, invites attendees to take a trip on a roadmap to the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Iowa’s booth will showcase the state’s selected title, Amazing Iowa Women by Dr. Katy Swalwell and will feature a special video interview with the author.
The event will culminate Sunday evening with a special two-hour program broadcasted on PBS stations nationwide. “The Library of Congress National Book Festival: Celebrating American Ingenuity” will feature some of the nation’s most renowned authors and literary voices and will air Sunday, Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m. on Iowa PBS.
