book you wrote entitled Friction is a great book that relates to my life
in many ways, as in, the new girl, Stacy, I was a new kid at Emmetsburg my
eighth grade year. Stacy went through the same complications I did, like,
meeting new people and teachers and finding my way around a new place. I am
also like Stacy because she is different from everybody else and is not afraid
to speak her mind or give her opinion about something even when it is unneeded.
the main character, we also are alike; in ways such as, we both like to meet
new people and be helpful to them. Alex is into playing sports which is another
thing we both have in common. Alex and I also have differences too. She has
parents who always seem to be in a run and never have time to listen to her
problems, which is a polar opposite of my parents.
scene where Alex takes Stacy to "the ladder" relates to my life very
much because it's a special moment between her and a close friend. This happens
to my friends and me a lot too. In the first place they had a strong bond but
eventually started to fall apart, which unfortunately has happened with some of
my friends too.
The rumors Stacy starts about Alex and Simon has never
happened to me before but other rumors have so I know how she must have felt in
those particular situations. She handled the questions from other classmates
and facility members very well, much better than I would have. Having someone
so horrible and mean in your class at that age would really take toll on
another's life. Especially at an age so young.
letter that Alex writes to Simon is really touching which is another thing Alex
and I have in common, caring about what others think of you if it's in a
negative way. And caring about others if they are hurt.
Having Stacy start the rumors because that is what
happened to her is why rumors in our school start. People are rude to each
other at home so that's what they think is the right thing to do and they bring
it to school with them.
someone you care so much about is a really great thing in life to have. And if
someone for instance in this situation, Stacy, tries to wreck that, it would be
devastating. I do not think I would be able to handle something like that to
happen in my life. But if it ever does happen. I am willing to be just like
Alex and stand up and be strong about it.
Alex is now a
great character to base your choices on, of course she doesn't always make the
right decisions but she knows how to handle the outcomes in a positive way. She
isn't perfect. And that's exactly what I like about her, and about this book.
