Books can really be magnificent things.  They can take me away from my problems and make me enter a world where anything can happen.  The way you use words helps me visualize and enter Arthur Penhaligon’s world in The Keys to the Kingdom.  Your books, not just The Keys to the Kingdom, help me escape my prison of a room when I’m grounded or when I just need to forget or get away from problems for a while.

Normally, I give up when the going gets tough.  Very seldom do I suck it up and just do what I’m supposed to.  I quit football for a week then went back when I got sick of being grounded from everything.  I quit football last year in 8th grade after only two days.  I used to try to skip school just so I wouldn’t have to give a presentation or speech because I was afraid of what others would think.  I’m slowly quitting this quitting habit.  Your books are part of the reason I’m losing this habit.  In your books, the protagonist always has to overcome some kind of obstacle.  The obstacles I have are nowhere near as bad as the obstacles in the books.  I make the characters real to make me want to overcome my small obstacles that I make bigger than they actually are.  Now that I’ve tried to overcome my obstacles and succeeded, I have come to think that every obstacle in life can be passed if I just suck it up, actually try to overcome it, and give it my all.  I never thought books had an impact on life, but they do. I am not only writing to tell how your books impact me, but also how much I just enjoy reading them. Most books I've read have the same setting in one way -- they take place on an earth we're all familiar with, one that has limits and laws that all living beings must follow. In your books the setting isn't on an earth where there are definite limits and laws. Your readers get to escape our well-known universe and get to experience a new earth where almost anything is possible, from attachable wings to being made of Nothing. I enjoy reading your books so much, even though I've read only two to three books written by you.

There are many reasons why I keep on searching for books written by you. The books are written with accurate and precise words, making it easy for me to enter the setting that it takes place in. Your books are some of the best I've ever read when it comes to visualizing the world and the characters in that world. The way you describe Arthur Penhaligon's appearance, it's easy to make him real. Your books help me with one of my worst habits. With my effort and your books, I can overcome obstacles without quitting. I'll just suck it up and deal with what I have to. Books, especially yours, really do have an effect on life.
