Dear Ka Seth,

Have you ever made fun of a person that you didn't know before? Did you take back on what you said until you knew who they were? I understood how kids could be made to feel different by the power of others words in your book Blue Jasmine.

When I transferred from Cattel Elementary to St. Pius X I thought everybody would laugh at me on how I spoke or how I couldn't speak perfect English. I have never been made fun of because of my Hispanic background in the past, but my older brother, Gabriel, had a friend that told him that our family was stupid Mexicans and I felt very bad inside. I was only 10 years when that happened and really it tore my heart apart. I felt like yelling with a pillow covering my mouth because I don't like people making fun of my family. So I prayed that night when it happened and I told God to never let that happen ever again and that was the last time people made fun of us.

When I always read Blue Jasmine it always wants me to never be afraid of who I am and stand up for myself and everything will come to a perfect place. Thank you Ka Seth for giving me the opportunity to stand up for my family and myself.
