Welcome to the Iowa Center for the BookThe Iowa Center for the Book (ICB) is a program of the State Library of Iowa and an affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. The mission of the ICB is to stimulate public interest in books, reading, literacy and libraries. To fulfill this mission the ICB offers a variety of programs and resources. New Humanities Iowa & Prairie Lights PartnershipHumanities Iowa has partnered with Iowa independent bookstore Prairie Lights to promote reading and literature. Bibliophile Paul Ingram gives a tour featuring his summer hardcover reading picks. Ben Miller, Slater Public Library Director, Joins Advisory CouncilNew Council member Ben Miller will represent public libraries on the Center for the Book Advisory Council. Ben moved from Missoula, Montana to take over as Director of the Slater Public Library. Baker's The Flamingo Rising Selected for National Book Festival Discover Great Places MapAuthor Larry Baker's unforgettable novel "The Flamingo Rising" has been selected for the 2010 National Book Festival Young People's literary map. Joan Bessman Taylor appointed to ICB Advisory CouncilDr. Joan Bessman Taylor has been appointed to the ICB Advisory Council. She is Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa Graduate School of Library and Information Science. Shannon McClintock Miller Joins ICB Advisory CouncilShannon McClintock Miller, Van Meter Community School district teacher librarian, has been appointed to the Iowa Center for the Book Advisory Council.
