The Iowa Center for the Book (ICB) is a program of Iowa Library Services/State Library of Iowa and an affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.  Founded in 2002, ICB's mission is to stimulate public interest in books, reading, literacy and libraries.  To fulfill this mission the ICB offers a variety of programs and resources. Iowa Center for the Book Names New Foundation Directors

The Iowa Center for the Book has applied for nonprofit status for its new foundation. "The ICB foundation will work to promote the Center's purpose which is to stimulate public interest in books, reading, literacy and libraries," said Dale Ross, President of the new organization. "Enriching current programs such as All Iowa Reads and Letters About Literature and funding new projects such as a traveling history of the book exhibit will be our focus as the Foundation begins its work to raise funds."

And the All Iowa Reads 2013 winner is "The Year We Left Home!"

The All Iowa Reads selection for 2013 is Jean Thompson's "The Year We Left Home." "This intricate and moving story of an Iowa farm family will spark conversation all year long," said Susan Craig, Director of the Iowa City Public Library, and member of the All Iowa Reads selection committee who with Karen Davidson, Learning Resources Coordinator, Northeast Iowa Community College, announced the winner at the Iowa Library Association's annual conference held in Dubuque October 19th.
