Welcome to the Iowa Center for the Book
The Iowa Center for the Book announces that Jean Thompson's "The Year We Left Home" will be the title All Iowans Read next year.
The Iowa Center for the Book has applied for nonprofit status for its new foundation. "The ICB foundation will work to promote the Center's purpose which is to stimulate public interest in books, reading, literacy and libraries," said Dale Ross, President of the new organization. "Enriching current programs such as All Iowa Reads and Letters About Literature and funding new projects such as a traveling history of the book exhibit will be our focus as the Foundation begins its work to raise funds."
The All Iowa Reads selection for 2013 is Jean Thompson's "The Year We Left Home." "This intricate and moving story of an Iowa farm family will spark conversation all year long," said Susan Craig, Director of the Iowa City Public Library, and member of the All Iowa Reads selection committee who with Karen Davidson, Learning Resources Coordinator, Northeast Iowa Community College, announced the winner at the Iowa Library Association's annual conference held in Dubuque October 19th.
