State Historical Society of Iowa
This annual award recognizes the book judged as the most significant published on Iowa history during the preceding year. It is named in honor of Benjamin F. Shambaugh, for forty years the superintendent of the State Historical Society of Iowa, professor of political economy at the University of Iowa, and one of the founders of the new social science at the turn of the century.
See the State Historical Society's Web site for more on the Shambaugh award.
