Wellman, Michael
Comments from the author about writing: When I finally wrote my first book I was past 50 and sore in ways that can only stem from having resisted too long what I most ached to do. Happily, writing is not like [physical] gymnastics where potential exhausts at a young age. It satisfies me more than anything delicious ever has. That anyone else might also derive satisfaction from something I wrote is as unnecessary and as welcome as whipped cream atop a sundae. I think writing is what I am supposed to do.
