I write because I enjoy writing and the challenge of writing.
Why did I write "Water Runs Downhill?" I thought about the hardships that farmers and rural folks (small towns) went through during the Great Depression and preserving an historic record of those times. It occurred to me that ideally the story should be told by someone who actually lived it, but who? I decided to take up the challenge myself!
Literary awards received and date received.
The statewide Iowa Electrical Cooperatives magazine (June 2007) chose my book as one of four Iowa authors featured. Its history and rural essence appealed to their editorial team. The most rewarding "award" I received was the complimentary feedback (letters, phone calls ad E-mails) from readers. No Pulitzer yet!
