Comments from the author about writing:  My foremost goal is for my images and writings to help the reader appreciate and value Iowa's fragile and often threatened ecosystems and natural heritage. I hope I cause my readers to make environmentally appropriate choices in their lives, so we can help save Iowa's declining habitats while improving our natural world. Together we can make a difference! I love the process of writing as well as the end product. As I travel throughout the state and interview Iowans, I meet many talented and amazing people. It is their knowledge and help that allow me to successfully write about Iowa's natural heritage.
