McCue, Matt
Comments from the author about writing: What is the secret to writing? The secret is there is no secret. I'm 26 and published my first book, An Honorable Run, in September 2009. What I've learned over the past four years, is that finishing a book has required a daily commitment. Patience is a virtue in this craft. Of course, passion is also a must. If no one ever paid me another dime for my work, I'd still continue to capture and share stories.
Book Types: Nonfiction
Audience Types: Young Adult, Adult
Genre: Sports, Coming of Age
Are you willing to do programs for schools, libraries, or other groups? Yes
If you are willing to do programs, will you charge a fee? I'd love to speak to groups. I think that given my age, 26, and the fact that I've lived in New York and worked in publishing there, that I'd be a valuable and fun resource for the students. They'd learn that not all writers are recluses who live in cabins in the woods, but young and energetic people--just like them. My story is about chasing dreams. It's about the importance of wise mentors. It's a coming of age piece that shares what is truly important in life--people.
I've already spoken to over 50 schools across the country and I have local librarians and teachers who can give a recommendation.
