I write mainly to give back to my community, whether that community is the
town I live in, the company I work for, the church I go to, or a group of
science fiction fans on the Internet. Since I don't write for income, I
select whatever projects I want to work on, and only write what I enjoy. This
allows me to improve my craft without worrying about any sort of
material outcome; satisfaction is its own reward.
I have published two works on Des Moines, Iowa history as well as several papers for conferences on Computer Science research. Have also written several fictional works and screenplays in the science fiction genre.
