Comments from the author about writing: As an artist and writer involved in the nonprofit sector internationally, I write about my experiences working and living with different cultures and navigating the challenges of charity work. As a storyteller I write to give a voice to those individuals who I encounter on my travels to share their stories of strength, hope, and resilience with the world. Always calling Iowa home, I write about international issues but with a Midwestern viewpoint of how cultures can coexist and sometimes collide both between different nations and ethnicity but also within our own borders. Having worked extensively in Haiti, my work focuses heavily on my experiences there.
