Comments from the author about writing: My debut novel, Too Much Left Unsaid, is historical fiction set in the mid-twentieth century. Ordinary families are affected by the events happening in the world around them. The action takes place from 1919 to 1969.

I spent my career in teaching, with a brief time out to raise my three children. I've taught in seven states and eleven school districts. During those years my writing was for classes and presentations, lessons and evaluations. In 2009 I attended the University of Iowa Summer Writing Festival for the first time and have returned each summer since. I got the idea for my novel from the journals kept by my mother-in-law. Each year she would begin to write comments about her menus and the weather, but never very much else. Partway through the year the journal pages would be empty. Knowing that her life was more than the scattered journal entries, I invented a character based upon her and imagined a life she might have lived.

I have enjoyed the whole process of writing and editing this first novel and am currently experimenting with new ideas for writing a second novel or some short stories.
