Comments from the author about writing: I wrote my first book on literacy lessons for the school library as connected with standards, as there were few such books out there for standards based literacy lessons. We librarians needed such a book on standards based lessons. The book sold well, so the publisher asked me to write the second volume. Due to the intensity of writing lessons that are not only standard based, but employ active learning, I was not sure if I wanted to write the second volume, but I did. The second volume was actively received as well. As a result, I would encourage anyone who sees a need for a certain book, to write their book!
