Comments from the author about writing: Jerry Johnson, novelist, essayist, and short story writer, is the author of three books and the blog Dispatches from a Northern Town.
He describes his writing as “an old curmudgeon’s stories about life in the North Country.” A retired journalist and college public relations director, he lives on the 50-acre farm with 130-year-old log house with his wife, Patti, a retired elementary school teacher.
“My writing is inspired by a proverb attributed to tribal elders of the Australian Aborigines: ‘In the end, the only thing you really own is your story.’ I write in many genres, but most of my stories are about the wonders of the wild places in the North Country. Maybe I own these stories, but most days I think the stories own me.”
