Comments from the author about writing: My fiction has solid research behind it, though I take some liberties with the facts. For instance, in my Iowa series, I moved the Floyd river closer to town because I needed it there! But when truth matters--such as details about the US Cadet Nurse Corps--I remain true to the facts. As a former teacher, editor, and librarian, I enjoy the research--but I my goal is to create characters who make that information come alive. My favorite comment from a reader reflects my success with that goal: "I know this person--but I didn't know you knew him!"

If you are willing to do programs, will you charge a fee? Negotiable, based on mileage and type of event. Based on research done for "Late Harvest" (part of the Iowa-based series) I have developed a 30-45 minute presentation on the US Cadet Nurse Corps which existed during WW II. Whether for such a presentation, or a "Meet the Author" event, I ask to be allowed to set up a table for book sales.
