Comments from the author about writing: My newest book, a paperback children's picture book, is written in sing-song, casual poetry, in a minimalist style, leaving opportunities to ask your listeners if our young runaway, Jan, did the right things, how he could have handled it better, were his lies to the old farmer a bad thing, etc.  My first two books (companion pieces,) were written, with many examples, to help writers organize family stories or personal advice to their families and friends.
