For me, writing is therapeutic. But I encourage everyone to write. It's
the only way we can preserve family stories. Stories join the past with the
future.
I recently had published a non-fiction book about two Iowans who served in Vietnam. "Vietnam Sons" tells the stories of Chuck, who was killed, and Kenn, a friend who believes he was responsible for the other's death. After 40 years, his guilt persists even though Chuck's parents have said he was not responsible for their son's death. In fact, the father has become almost like a father to Kenn. In 2004, I had published a children's picture book, "Hide the Daddy".
