Schoon, Christian

Comments from the author about writing: My debut novel was inspired by my volunteer work with various animal welfare groups here in Iowa, where I get up close and personal with everything from horses and burros to full-grown black bears, cougars, 10-foot alligators, even longer pythons and dozens of other species. Combined with my love for all things science fictional, it simply seemed a natural next step to write a series of novels featuring a heroine who is a novice exoveterinarian studying big, dangerous, profoundly fascinating alien animals. On Mars. I've always enjoyed spec fiction, and am thrilled at the prospect of creating entire worlds, races, societies and biospheres for young adult readers to immerse themselves in as I did when their age.
