Comments from the author about writing:
I have always loved children's books, and picture books in particular. It is
such an interesting dance between the author and illustrator-- each with his or
her own freedom to tell a story through words or art. There is no greater thrill
than to see the words spring to life by way of an illustrator, and after years
of revision and waiting, to have a finished picture book in hand to share with
kids. Picture book themes often function on more than one level, and can make
touching gifts for adults as well as children. As a child, I often felt
understood by the authors I read, and it's my hope as a writer that children
feel the same way when they read my own books.
