As a former Iowa State Trooper and Iowa Department of Justice investigator I bring a deep respect for the difficult job peace officers do each and every day to my writing. I also know the value of humor in dealing with the lemons life often hands us. My Calamity Jayne series combines the best of both worlds in homegrown humorous mysteries set in the heartland. As a youngster I loved to write but it was only when I was home with four young children and needed an inexpensive escape that I began to write again. It was my way of getting away from it all--without leaving the house. I wrote three books before I sold Calamity Jayne. I have since gone on to pen four more Tressa Jayne Turner mysteries as well as a romantic comedy with a divine twist. I also write darker, edgier paranormal thrillers and young adult stories. I approach writing as a business. I have a rigid writing schedule and set specific short-term and long-term goals to assist in career building.
