Comments from the author about writing:
With over twenty years as a Navy wife, and now as a Marine mom, I've had the chance to put pen to paper and capture some of my thoughts about those many emotions -- love and loneliness, hope, fear, pride, and (always, it seems) waiting. I think that the loved ones of those who serve have many similar feelings, and sometimes it's a comfort just to know we aren't alone. I was given the wonderful opportunity to share my collected poems with other military families when the Iowa Farm Bureau Foundation provided a publication grant so that copies could be distributed to Iowa National Guard families.
