Comments from the author about writing:
My brother-in-law Phil Doll was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma over three years ago. Phil is a devoted father of four and a beloved Little League Coach, formerly in Davenport, and now in Amherst, WI. He used the social networking website as a means of staying in touch with his many friends and family members. I started making daily entries on Caringbridge, using my humor to keep Phil's spirits high during the tough times. I started to get a lot of positive feedback from the Caringbridge community regarding how much people enjoyed my daily entries. Since Phil and I are both lifelong Cubs fans and 2008 marked the 100-year anniversary of their last World Series Championship, I decided to write a journal of the 2008 Cubs season from a fan's standpoint. Each daily entry contains information about the Cubs game, somewhere between what one would garner from the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago taxi driver outside of Wrigley Field. On days when no game is scheduled, I write about an entertaining baseball story about my youth or from Cubs lore.
