The Iowa Center for the Book has applied for nonprofit status for its new foundation. "The ICB foundation will work to promote the Center's purpose which is to stimulate public interest in books, reading, literacy and libraries," said Dale Ross, President of the new organization. The Foundation Directors' responsibilities include setting policy, overseeing foundation operations, representing the Iowa Center for the Book and its foundation to the community, and giving to support ICB and foundation activities.
Foundation Directors are Susan Craig, Directors of the Iowa City Public Library, Monica Gohlinghorst, State Library of Iowa Commissioner, Dr. Dale Ross, Professor of English Emeritus at Iowa State University, Dr. Timothy Walch, former Director of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, Mary Wegner, State Librarian of Iowa and Robin Martin, Coordinator for the Iowa Center for the Book.
Working with Attorney Steven J. Roy, the directors expect to gain nonprofit status beginning in 2013.
