The Marion Public Library's monthly Coffeehouse Fiction Book Discussion Group meets in Wit's End Coffeehouse near the library; the group will be discussing The Year We Left Home, the All Iowa Reads 2013 selection, at our April meeting. Please join us at Wit's End at 4pm on Tuesday, April 16 for a lively discussion. The library purchases treats from Wit's End and you can buy your own beverage. Out of respect for the proprietor, please do not bring your own food or drink. Wit's End is a cozy and intimate space for our fun discussions. The address is 630 10th St in Marion, Iowa.
From the Simon & Schuster website:
"From National Book Award finalist Jean Thompson comes a mesmerizing, decades-spanning saga of one ordinary American family—proud, flawed, hopeful— whose story simultaneously captures the turbulent history of the country at large. . . The Year We Left Home follows the Erickson siblings as they confront prosperity and heartbreak, setbacks and triumphs, and seek their place in a country whose only constant seems to be breathtaking change. Ambitious, richly told, and fiercely American, this is a vivid and moving meditation on our continual pursuit of happiness and an incisive exploration of the national character."
