It’s not every day that a bestselling, nationally recognized author decides to launch a book in Des Moines, but that is exactly what Sara Gruen plans to do on Tuesday, September 7 when her newest book, Ape House, goes on sale. The book is about a family of apes that are kidnapped from a facility where they are studying language and next appear on a reality TV show. It’s an amazing story about the humans that care about them, the viewers that tune in to watch their antics, and the money-hungry investors behind the scheme. The author spent time at The Great Ape Trust while researching her book. She is appearing at Hoyt Sherman Place Theater as an EXTRA AViD EVENT (Authors Visiting in Des Moines) funded through the Des Moines Public Library Foundation.
