Carnegie-Stout is excited to welcome Madison author James E. Mills on September 10 at 1:00 p.m.
In 2013, James was part of the first all-African-American team of climbers, sponsored by the National Outdoor Leadership School, to challenge themselves on North America's highest point, Alaska's Denali. James' book The Adventure Gap and the documentary An American Ascent both follow this attempt and use it as a jumping-off point to explore why minorities are much less likely to seek recreation, adventure, and solace in the wilderness.
He will show the film, winner of several awards, and discuss his book and experiences. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
