New Book by Sports Radio Host Larry Cotlar Shares Thirty-Four Years Sports Interviews
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Larry Cotlar grew up with three passions - St. Louis Cardinals baseball, sports in general and radio. Over the next forty-one years, Cotlar was able to parlay those three passions into a career in sports radio. He will discuss his career and the many sports figures he had the pleasure of interviewing on Sunday, June 12 at 1:00 PM at Beaverdale Books.
Cotlar’s book, The Biggest Rolodex in Sports, features some of Cotlar’s most memorable interviews. The time that he interviewed controversial Oakland A’s owner Charlie Finley for more than an hour, an interesting encounter with Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott, a memorable exchange between Bob Knight and Abe Lemons, an emotional interview with Rick Majerus and his mentor, Al McGuire, and a blown interview opportunity with Reggie Jackson are just a few of the stories related in this book. Cotlar has also been the play-by-play radio voice of the Drake men’s basketball team since 2006. He also tells the story of the 2007-08 Drake team which was the biggest story in college basketball as it earned an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time in 39 years. So sit back, relax, and enjoy stories of some of your favorite sports heroes as told by long-time sports radio personality Larry Cotlar.
