Carrie Brown is the author of the 2009 All Iowa Reads book, The Rope Walk. The book tells the story of one unforgettable and life-changing summer in the life of a girl named Alice. Throughout her career, Brown has won several literary awards including the Barnes and Noble Discover Award and the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize. She comes to Des Moines from her home state of Virginia, where she lives with her husband and three children. This program will be moderated by Rekha Basu, a columnist for The Des Moines Register. The author is appearing at Sheslow Auditorium as part of the AViD (Authors Visiting in Des Moines) series of the Des Moines Public Library.
