Larry Tye, author of Satchel: The life and Times of an American Legend, will appear with a reception at 5:30 p.m. and the program at 6:30 p.m. Books will be available for sale and signing. This author appearance opens the exhibit "Pride and Passion: The African American Baseball Experience" which will remain at the East Side Library from September 21 until October 30. Straight from Cooperstown, New York, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the National Endowment for the Humanities are sponsoring this traveling display of Negro League Baseball memorabilia. The display will be available for viewing all hours the library is open and will include letters, schedules, photographs, posters, and other items from this portion of America's sporting history.
