Harvard and Columbia educated scholar and author William Taubman has spent much of his career researching, analyzing, and writing about the Soviet Union. He frequently states that he was trained as a “Sovietologist." Taubman has become the official biographer of Nikita Khrushchev. His biography, Khrushchev: The Man and His Era, has won several major literary awards including the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for biography. Program will be moderated by David Maxwell, President of Drake University. This author is appearing at Sheslow Auditorium as part of the AViD (Authors Visiting in Des Moines) program sponsored by the Des Moines Public Library.
