- Children's Book Discussion Group: Swindle, by Gordon Korman
- Join us for Read 'Em and Eat at Des Moines Central Library, 1000 Grand Avenue, on Thursday, December 11, from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m. when we'll talk about the book Swindle, by Gordon Korman. - Meet Author Rebecca Christian at Des Moines Central Library
- Writer Rebecca Christian will give a talk about a new book she co-authored with Katherine Fischer called That's Our Story and We're Sticking to It. It's a compilation of the op-eds, essays, humor pieces, and a few poems written over the last twenty years. The pieces have appeared in such places as The Chicago Tribune, The Christian Science Monitor, and on National Public Radio. Christian's op-eds have also appeared in The Des Moines Register, including a piece on her late mentor and young adult novelist Jeannette Eyerly, as well as articles in The Iowan, Home and Away Iowa. She has also written for Iowa Artists in the Schools and aired commentaries for WOI and KUNI. Meet the author at the Des Moines Central Library, 1000 Grand Avenue, on Sunday December 14 at 2:30 p.m.

- Join in a discussion of the book Days on the Family Farm by Carrie Meyer at the East Side Branch of the Des Moines Public Library, 2559 Hubbell Avenue, on Wednesday December 17 at 2:00 p.m. Treats will be provided. The book tells the story of a farming couple who lived through the Great Depression and two World Wars, as chronicled by the wife's diaries that she kept for more than forty years, a record of everyday events on the family farm.

- Join us at the Franklin Avenue Branch of the Des Moines Public Library, 5000 Franklin Avenue, on Saturday December 13 at 11:00 a.m. when The Des Moines Playhouse presents The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Join the actors for a brief presentation and discussion about this holiday classic! There will be a drawing for tickets to the show.
