Waukee Public Library holds "Big Read" Event

Dozens of activities are scheduled around the book "The Shawl" by Cynthia Ozick, including an online conversation with the author.

The Waukee Public Libary, Waukee Community Schools, and Waukee Area Arts Council is bringing the "Big Read"to Waukee!

Thanks to a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and support from local individuals and businesses, a fine lineup of book discussions, films, theater, and programs, including knitting and crocheting shawls, will occur February 18 - March 27.  All these events circle around the book The Shawl by Cynthia Ozick.  Books are available for checkout or for discounted sale at the library.

It's the next best thing to in person - Mrs. Ozick will get together with Waukee live via the Internet for a moderated book discussion, and question and answer period at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at the Waukee Public Library. Come meet the woman behind the book! Our moderator for the evening will be Molly Thomas-Hicks from the Literature Office of the National Endowment for the Arts.

Check The National Endowment for the Arts Web site for a complete listing of the programs offered in Waukee, or the Waukee Public Library Web site.
