The project is part of this year's All Iowa Reads (AIR) program.  The AIR book for 2007 is Splendid Solution:  Jonas Salk and the Conquest of Polio by Jeffrey Kluger.

Scott received her BA in the American Studies Program from Smith College in 1997 and her master's degree in the same subject at the College of William and Mary in 2001.  She is currently a doctoral candidate in the American Studies Program at William and Mary.

From 2003 to 2006 she worked as the director of the Oral History Program for the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation, Inc., Arlington National Cemetery.  The project collected oral histories from women who had served in the military.

Said Iowa Center for the Book coordinator, Katherine Von Wald, "I am pleased that we could hire someone who has the expertise we need.  She will be a great asset to this project."
