Davenport Public Library

Our AIR discussion was on Wednesday, June 11. There were 12 people in attendance. We grade our books school grades, and this book averaged a solid "B." It was interesting because the group was almost evenly split between A's and C's. It seemed that people either really adored the book, or didn't like it much at all - this makes a wonderful discussion! Most of our conversation was about the characters. Those in attendance that could not relate to, or sympathize with, Maryam didn't much care for the book. Those that thought she was a strong, intelligent woman, really seemed to like the book. Everyone agreed that the Donaldsons were kind of creepy! It was a great evening, and we're all looking forward to the next AIR title. We do wish that there would be more of a Midwestern theme or a Midwestern author for the next book.
