Liza Gilbert Appointed to All Iowa Reads Committee
Experience at Davenport Public Library of special note
Liza Gilbert, Librarian at Davenport Public Library (DPL), has been appointed to the All Iowa Reads Committee. "Liza's experience with programming for readers of all ages will serve the All Iowa Reads program particularly well," said Interim State Librarian Barb Corson.
"Since I joined the Davenport Public Library and moved to Iowa from Wisconsin almost 4 years ago, I have witnessed a conflicted response in the Quad Cities to the books awarded the All Iowa Reads distinction. I am delighted to become involved with the Committee, and I hope to learn more about the process and the program so that our library can better present the program to our communities."
Gilbert holds Bachelor's degrees in English and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She completed part of her Spanish B.A. at La Universidad Catolica del Uruguay in Montevideo. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Library and Information Studies, she is a second-generation librarian. Gilbert served on the 2010 Alex Award Committee and currently supervises the Marketing & Programming Department at DPL which is responsible for creating and presenting programs for all ages as well as marketing all events and services provided by the library. Last year her department presented 702 programs.
"Liza's genuine enthusiasm for AIR and her background will strengthen this popular program," said Robin Martin, Coordinator for the Iowa Center for the Book.
Gilbert joins the committee as it works to select the winner of the 2015 All Iowa Reads book which will be announced on October 24, 2014 at the Iowa Library Association's Annual Conference in Cedar Rapids. Find members of the All Iowa Reads Committee.
